Patricia and Fredrick McKissack

Patricia and Fredrick McKissack

Patricia and Fredrick McKissack have written more than 50 books together spanning more than 20 years. Patricia does the writing and Fred does the research. Their books have won the Coretta Scott King Award, Newbery Honor, Notable Children's Trade Book and American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults awards. Books by the McKissacks include Black Hands, White Sails: The Story of African-American Whalers (1999), Black Diamond: The Story of the Negro Baseball Leagues (1994), Christmas in the Big House, Christmas in the Quarters (1994) and Sojourner Truth: Ain't I A Woman? (1992). The McKissacks make their home outside of St. Louis, Missouri.
