Author Biography

J. California Cooper

J. California Cooper

J. California Cooper, who says she was "telling stories before she could write," is the author of plays, short stories and novels. The author of 17 plays, she was honored as the Black Playwright of 1978. Her first collection of short stories was Piece of Mine (1984). Her first novel, Family (1991), was followed by short story collections and other novels, including In Search of Satisfaction (1994), Some Love, Some Pain, Some Time: Stories (1995), Wake of the Wind (1998) and The Future Has a Past: Stories (2000). She resides in Guala, California.
