Classification

PN6071.S69

PN6071.A-Z consists of a list of subjects of collections of general literature (i.e., collections that include more than one genre). In context, then, this proposal to revise the caption from “Steampunk” to “Steampunk fiction” was too limiting and was not approved.

Subject Headings

Hampton Roads, Battle of, Va., 1862

The UF being proposed, “Monitor vs. Virginia (Merrimack), Battle of the Ironclads,” is redundant when considered in context with the UFs already present in the record, and also was not formatted according to the rules set forth in SHM H 1285, sec. 1. It was not approved.

Memento mori (Art)

This proposal was made to revise the established heading Memento mori. Memento mori are reminders of deceased loved ones and also reminders of one’s own mortality. Not all memento mori are artistic; they may also take the form of brooches made out of the deceased’s hair, letters, photographs, funerary monuments, etc. Therefore, the addition of the qualifier to the heading would limit the heading too narrowly. The existing heading Memento mori may be assigned to the work being cataloged. The proposal was not approved.
