Classification

Changes were made as indicated on the approved list.

Subject Headings

Subdivisions to be added to lists of free-floating subdivisions:

H 1155.8, Lit works/Title

$v Film and video adaptations

H 1180, Plants & crops

$x Pollination (May Subd Geog)

Other decisions:

Ladino poetry--18th century

This proposal is not necessary because the subdivision --18th century is free-floating under headings for literatures and genres of those literatures according to instruction sheet H 1156.

LGBT...; LGBTI...; LGBTQ...; LGBTQQ...; etc.

These proposals for seven general see references from initialisms were not approved. Reference records are created to fill gaps and to provide entry vocabulary when a general heading for a concept does not exist or cannot be established in LCSH. The preference is to trace variant terminology as UF references in the record for the general heading. In this case, appropriate variant terms should be added as UF references in the record for Sexual minorities. Since UF references already exist in that record from GLBT people, GLBTQ people, LGBT people, and LGBTQ people, it's doubtful whether others that begin with LGBT would need to be made.

Non-royalty plays, American

This proposal was not approved. The heading Non-royalty plays represents a category of plays characterized by a condition regarding their distribution or performance. Since the heading is not a literary genre, it does not seem appropriate to establish specific headings with national qualifiers. If it is necessary to bring out the nationality of the authors, additional headings of the type American drama; Patriotic plays, American; etc., could be assigned.
